The recently sealed TRP (Trail Recreation Program) deal between Trail and Rossland has sent ripples of excitement through the Trail Stingrays club, marking a significant step in collaboration.

The agreement not only positions the Stingrays to continue offering a high quality program at an affordable price, but also highlights the power of partnerships in enhancing community life.

According to the terms of the 1-year deal, swimmers from Rossland now have the opportunity to register for TRP cards, a move that reduces costs for the Stingrays.

The club relies on a combination of grants, donations, fundraising, volunteers, and swimmer registration fees to operate. This agreement not only supports the Stingrays’ sustainability but also showcases Rossland’s dedication to diversifying recreational offerings and creating opportunities, particularly for youth.

“The one-year TRP Agreement is a long awaited and exciting step forward in regional collaboration for recreation services” said Kristi Calder, Manager of Recreation and Events for the City of Rossland.

“We are working with Trail City staff to collect user data throughout this year, in order to allow Council to make an informed decision on renewal in December when this short-term agreement comes to an end.”

The TRP deal holds particular significance for the Trail Stingrays, addressing the funding for 2024 they had requested through Rossland’s grant-in-aid process in December 2023.

While the current TRP deal spans only 1-year, the club eagerly anticipates further extensions to solidify plans for the future.
