Rossland martial artist Irie Anderson took home gold in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the Kelowna Spring Open March 25-26.

Anderson won both matches by points, without having a single point scored against him. Anderson competed in the Men’s Featherweight Blue Belt Division and defeated his opponents by a score of 4-0 in the first match and 2-0 in the second.

He and Greg Harrison also run Rossland Martial Arts at 1995 Columbia Ave., a club committed to providing all members of the community with a healthy learning and training environment.

“We have Jiu Jitsu classes for kids, adults, and a women’s jiu jitsu class! We also offer kickboxing for adults,” said Anderson.

The club welcomes all ages and levels, and encourages beginners to join to enhance their confidence and fitness, as well as their physical and mental health. For those accomplished in other martial art forms, Rossland Martial Arts has experienced coaches to help participants meet their fitness and competition goals.
