Eric Lawson has worked in community media for 30 years as a reporter, editor, sales manager, general manager and publisher. He has worked and lived across Canada; prior to joining Black Press he was publisher of the Brandon Sun in Brandon, Manitoba. Lawson has been involved in community organizations throughout his career, including Rotary, the YMCA, Chambers of Commerce, and support for animal shelters. He has also been active in industry associations such as the Flyer Distribution Standards Association and Newspapers Canada.

Jennifer Cowan

As a former business owner, Jennifer comes to the table with a background in business management and sales. Previously, Jennifer held the role of editor of several Black Press West Kootenay papers and magazines. She is active in various community organizations and has been a Rotarian for 20 years.

Jennifer has lived in Nelson most of her life and enjoys everything the Kootenay lifestyle has to offer. Her grandchildren are the lights of her life.

John Boivin

A relative newcomer to the Kootenays, John has more than 30 years’ experience as a reporter and producer. He’s worked in newspapers, radio, and television, and helped pioneer online journalism at the CBC.
John has covered local, regional and national news in Manitoba, BC and the Yukon during his career. He is also an accomplished painter and especially enjoys painting outdoors, capturing the beauty of this land. An avid gardener, hiker and biker as well, he lives with his wife and son in the Slocan Valley.

After studying Graphic Design/Illustration and Marketing at Red River College Sandy started her career in Prince Albert, Sask. She moved out to the Kootenays where she continues her passion for creating really cool print and web designs.
