The Preschool Hockey program for kids 3-5 years is starting in January. The program will run for the month of January, on Mondays from 3:15-4:15 p.m. This is a fun approach to getting comfortable on the ice and in an arena setting and is geared towards children with limited or no skating experience. This is a great building block to our recreation hockey program for older kids. Co-ordinated by Kari Kuznecov, this parent participation program is sure to be fun!

The Kootenay Contraption Contest is now open until Dec. 14 for kids in Grades 2-8. The contest provides an opportunity for kids to design a contraption that solves this future problem: “Imagine the year is 2050. How will we use less energy?" Contraptions can be built and videotaped, or drawn. While your idea doesn't have to actually work, a description of HOW it will solve the problem is essential - be as creative as possible! The contest is open until Dec. 14 and the Grand Prize is an iPad or a classroom pizza party. Log onto KAST’s website, at www.kast.com for more information and to download the entry form.
