Peter Shumey

Peter Shumey, a former long time resident of Rossland, B.C. and Christina Lake, B.C., passed away at Noric House in Vernon, B.C. on Thursday, June 25th, 2009 at the age of 86 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by three sons, John (Ronda) Shumey of Vernon, B.C., Emil (Beatrice) Shumey of Nelson, B.C. and Lawrence (Lori) Shumey of Castlegar, B.C.; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Mataya, Matthew, Sonia, Annette, Shawn (Cynthia), Christopher and Jami (Josh); three great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Madeline and Noah; one brother, Bill (Mary) Shumay of Regina, Saskatchewan; two sisters, Olive Dziaduck of Regina, Saskatchewan and Pauline Kosior of Weyburn, Saskatchewan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Annie on March 6th, 2007; two brothers, John and Mike; and three sisters, Maggie, Mary and Katie.

Peter was employed at Cominco in Trail for 27 years. He loved playing cards, Crib and Whist and his greatest enjoyment in life came from maintaining his home and yard.

In respecting Peter’s wishes, he was cremated and his remains will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Annie in the Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Forks, B.C. on Thursday, July 9th, 2009.
