CROSS, Maude Patricia (Pat), born December 9, 1921, Trail, B.C. - Died, February 21, 2009, Salmon Arm, B.C.
Pat's life came to a very peaceful end at Bastion Place Care Facility, with her daughter and sister beside her, where she had lived since March 2006 while she journeyed through the many stages of Alzheimer's Disease.
Pat was born in Trail, B.C. and lived there until moving to Kimberley in 2000, and has lived in Salmon Arm since November 2004.
Left to celebrate her life, and carry on her memories are 3 daughters Elisabeth (Ken) Forsyth, Kimberley BC; Jennifer (Arnie) Pring, Salmon Arm, B.C.; Heather (Rich) Hamer, Montrose B.C.; and one son Mell (Valerie)Cross, Rossland, B.C.; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also remembering her life are her sisters Joanne (Vancouver) and Shirley (Vernon), and sister-in-law Phyllis (Vancouver), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Lindsay in 1989, her parents Maude and Paddy Dougan, and her brother Hunter.
Pat was a very accomplished musician, she sang in, conducted and/or accompanied many choirs, including the Trail Male Voice Choir and the Ac apella Singers, as well as performing with and directing the Rossland Light Opera Players. She was a piano and voice teacher to many children and adults in the Kootenays, and for many years was the organist and choir conductor at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Trail, as well as playing at various other churches in Trail and Kimberley.
Pat was very involved in the Trail and District Arts community, not only as a musician but also as a painter. She had also been involved with Girl Guides of Canada in numerous capacities, as well as the Trail International Folk Society. In 1970, she was named Trail's Citizen of the Year.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Trail at St. Andrew's Anglican Church at a later date.
The family sincerely requests no flowers. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
