Munro, Fred of Rossland, British Columbia passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 7, 2009 at Poplar Ridge Pavilion. Born in Trail on April 29, 1925 Fred lived in Rossland his entire life.

Fred was in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and has since been a Legion member. During his many years as a mechanic he worked at Rossland Co-op Transportation, Rossland Auto Service and the Department of Highways from where he retired in 1987. He enjoyed many hobbies and sports including wood working, huckleberry picking, travelling, curling and he was an avid football, baseball and hockey fan. Fred also believed strongly in giving back to his community. After he retired he supported meals on wheels as a driver, volunteered as a bartender at the Legion and spent many hours at the Rossland museum. The community spirit that Fred exemplified is on display for all to see in the restoration job he did on the vintage train car located at the Rossland Museum.

Fred is survived by his step children Mervyn (Marlene) and Alan Fry, his grandchildren Brian (Lora), Teresa, Darrel, Daven, Glenn, Karen, Jeff and Leanne, and 7 great grandchildren Peter, Steven, Ian, Keegan Fry, Brooklyn, Hope Donovan and Leah Fry.
