HASKINS, Martin - died unexpectedly at home on June 13,2008. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 15, 1956. He lived there until he was adopted by his parents and moved to Saskatchewan where he grew up.
Martin was a talented athlete who excelled at cross country running, pole vaulting, hockey, skiing and any sport he tried. He was a skilled horseman and had a special bond with all animals. Martin spent several years ranching in Millarville, A.B., where he developed many lifelong friendships. From the foothills he moved west to the mountains to ski and work in the ski industry for many years. His many talents and abilities (millwright, electrician, welder) opened many doors and he built ski lifts all over the world while working for Mueller & Doperlmayr. When his children were born he wanted to spend more time close to home and moved to Rossland, where he has lived ever since. In Rossland, Martin had the best of everything, his beloved children and friends. Here he could ski and golf, hunt and fish, and do everything he loved most.
Left to miss him always is his loving wife Liz; his beautiful children Jessica (Jared), Russell, and Emma; his beloved parents Bruce and Anne Haskins; his siblings Marybeth Wilkinson (Bob), Mark (Vivian), Marcia, Marilee, Marwyn, Marlon, Margolyn Clements (Larry), Marlow (Tina); as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, close friends, co-workers and his first wife Janet; and last, but not least, his four-legged pal and loyal companion Kodi.
A celebration of Martin's life will be held at the Miner's Hall in Rossland on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. Bill Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services is entrusted with arrangements.
