Leonora Inez (Lazzarotto) Borsato, 81, of Everett, Washington, died peacefully with her husband Louie by her bedside on Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Heritage Court nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born March 4, 1925 in St. Claire de la Tour, France, she came to Trail, BC, Canada in 1927 and moved to Robson in 1941. Four years later she met Louie Borsato while picking black currants on the family farm at Robson. It was love at first sight and they were married April 7, 1947 in Castlegar in St. Rita’s Church by Father Maglio. The first two of their five children were born while they lived in Fruitvale, BC. The family moved in 1951 to Monroe, WA and to Silver Lake two years later. In 1955 they settled permanently in Everett on Madrona Drive where they raised their five children on a special piece of property where they restored an historic caretaker’s cottage, planted a small orchard, extensive flower and vegetable gardens, and enjoyed a beautiful view of Puget Sound.
Surviving are Leonora’s husband of nearly 60 years, Louie; five children, Robert, Carolyn, Peter, Elena, Hope; their spouses, Cathie Allen, Les Stephens, Kathy Taylor Borsato, Hugh Blanc, Mike Zimmerman; four grandchildren, Sunshine Borsato and spouse Victor Stobbe, Clayton and Reid Zimmerman, Joe Borsato; former daughter-in-law Karen Borsato; and Leonora’s sister Corinne McEacheron, her daughter Lorrie, son-in-law Ron Towers, and granddaughters Kellyanne and Collene.
The family would like to thank the Heritage Court nurses and aides, Providence Hospice Care nurse Jenny Brown and other Hospice nurses and volunteers, and Dr. Pautler.
