It is with deep sadness that we recognize the loss of Jean Macdonald Kerr-Penny on August 12, 2021 to complications from Leukaemia.
Jean was predeceased by parents Arnold and Georgie Porter, brother Murray Porter and husband David Kerr.
By her side at the time of death were adoring husband Douglas Penny, and three loving sons: Mike, Tim and Andy Kerr. Jean also leaves behind 3 devoted daughters in law, 3 kind stepchildren and 6 wonderful grandchildren.
Jean made life in Chisholm, and later Midland, and in Rossland, BC., and enjoyed each setting to the fullest. Jean was an avid outdoors person, actively and expertly skiing, golfing, biking, hiking and swimming into her eighties. Jean also loved to play tennis, practiced yoga and even Tai Chi. Jean was a two-time Super Senior MGCC Golf Champion, as well as a Canada 55 Plus Games Gold Medal winner for ladies over 80, low gross division.
Jean and Doug were avid world travellers circling the globe and visiting a myriad of countries, making friends everywhere. Jean will be greatly missed by a very wide circle of great friends.
Jean was fearless in many respects, but if there was one fear she suffered from, it was the fear of missing out. Jean loved a dance, party, gathering, or event of any kind. It was often marvelled at how she managed to accomplish so much in any given day. When not there, she particularly missed her ritual morning swim in Wistiwasing Lake.
Jean's wish to selflessly donate her body to McMaster University, where she studied, was granted.
As there is no formal funeral, Jean's other wish was to invite friends and family to gather at her home, 876 Dominion Av. Midland, ON, set for Oct. 9, 2021 from 1 to 5 pm where there will be food and drink provided.
