In Loving Memory ~
With heavy hearts, and profound sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Gord Stanton. Gord died unexpectedly at home on January 9th, 2022.
Born March 31st, 1966, in Rossland, Gord was raised by his amazing parents and eight co-parents, his siblings. Being of such strong mindset, it wasn't long before he was trying to raise them. He adored his family and as they started to leave this world, they each took a large piece of Gord with them.
In keeping with family tradition, Gord was an excellent athlete. He could pick up any sport and excel at it. He played hockey, fastball, soccer, basketball, rugby, skiing, and slo-pitch. He played shortstop, second base, and pitcher in the Rossland Mens' slo-pitch and was still one of the fastest runners.
He loved slo-pitch, all his teammates and especially the last few years when both his sons played with him. He will also be remembered as a coach and a mentor.
Gord was a natural leader, respectful and caring, he was always there to help. That was his way. He was hard working, dedicated, loyal and always gave one hundred percent. His devotion to his family, friends, colleagues, teammates, and community will never be forgotten.
We are all experiencing a huge void for the loss of such an amazing guy. He will be remembered for his intelligent and calm manner, his thoughtfulness, and sense of humour which balanced his seriousness and concern for so many others. The outpouring of love and support honours who he was. The family is very grateful.
He was simply the very best.
There are no words to describe our heartbreak for the sudden and unexpected loss. Gord's quiet, common-sense approach defined him.
Gord was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Barb, and his brothers, Don and Gary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, sons Kenny (Chevonne) and Alex (Chloe), and granddaughter, Nova. He is also survived by his siblings, Carol (Ray), John, Tom (Daisy), Betty (Barry), Nancy (Brad), Barbie, and families. Siblings-in-law, Marlene, Resa, Steve, and Janet. Along with an abundance of his nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service has been held. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM was entrusted with arrangements.
A Memorial open house will be held for Gord Stanton at the Rossland Arena, 3rd Ave entrance, on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 1-3:00 PM.
