Two people face charges in Trail drug bust

Police seized 44 grams of fentanyl and 16 grams of methamphetamine

Two Trail residents are facing charges after police found a significant amount of fentanyl and methamphetamine at two Trail apartments.

The Trail and Castlegar RCMP Joint Crime Reduction Unit and the Trail RCMP executed a search warrant simultaneously on two apartments in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

According to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich, police seized 44 grams of fentanyl, 16 grams of methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, approximately $6,000 in cash and a handheld Taser at the scene.

Two men and two women were taken into custody and later released.

One man and one woman will make their first court appearances at the Rossland provincial court on April 4.

The investigation continues and more charges may be laid.
