While rain is welcomed in the Trail valley, for higher roads, Environment Canada has issued a special weather alert.
Wednesday morning a special weather statement with a warning of wet snow was issued for Highway 3: Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
Snowfall amounts of a trace to five centimetres is called for West Kootenay and Okanagan mountain passes.
“Snow levels are currently hovering near pass level for most high elevation travellers routes this morning,” Environment Canada advises.
“Wet snow is expected through the morning.
“Snow level are forecast to rise near midday with snow either easing or transitioning to rain showers.”
Transportation routes may be impacted.
Travellers should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
