Update: RCMP confirm missing Genelle man found deceased

UPDATE 10 a.m., Friday, June 16

Police confirmed Friday morning that Gregory Gritchin, reported missing on Wednesday, has been found deceased.

The RCMP report that 55-year old Gritchin was found deceased Thursday (June 15) near Castlegar.

Police say his death was the result of a non-suspicious circumstance.

“RCMP wish to thank the media and public for their assistance,” Cpl. James Grandy stated in a June 16 news release.

A 55-year-old Trail man was reported missing by his family on Wednesday morning, June 14.

Trail RCMP say that Gregory Dean Gritchin of Genelle had not been in contact with his extended family for the last four days.

“This lack of contact with family is unusual for Mr. Gritchin and sparked concern for his well-being,” read the release.

Police say an officer conducted an investigation into Mr. Gritchin’s disappearance, however, was not able to locate him, or his grey 2018 Jeep Cherokee with a BC licence plate LW246S.

A well known local realtor, Mr. Gritchin and his vehicle were last seen in the 100 block of Columbia Ave. in Castlegar.

Mr. Gritchin may have suffered a medical incident and his family is very worried about his state of health.

Mr. Gritchin had his dog with him at the time of disappearance.

He is described as a caucasian male, with grey hair and brown eyes, standing six-foot-three and aprroximately 250 pounds.
