Pedestrian struck and killed on Robson Access Rd. in Castlegar

Male pedestrian killed in Castlegar while walking on Robson Access Rd. in the early morning hours of Wednesday.

West Kootenay Traffic Services is reporting that a 28 year old male pedestrian walking on the road was fatally struck by a vehicle at 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4 on Robson Access Rd. The highway was closed for several hours and traffic was detoured until the scene investigation was completed.

The driver of the vehicle was not physically injured.

The name of the pedestrian is not being released at this time out of respect for the family and until permission has been given.

According to Sgt. Chad Badry of the West Kootenay Traffic and Integrated Road Safety Unit, "RCMP members of West Kootenay Traffic and Castlegar Detachment in conjunction with the BC Coroner's Service will be working together to determine the cause of the collision."
