A team of Grade 5 “mathletes” from MacLean Elementary won big at the School District No. 20 Math Festival on April 27 at Stanley Humphries Secondary School, competing against other problem solvers from Rossland, Trail and Castlegar.
Pictured here, Hannah Klemmensen, Payton Reed, Alina Stevens, Ali Ferguson and Ella Knight finished in first place. MacLean also secured two second place finishes in Grades 3 and 4. RSS students took both first and third place in Grade 6, and earned a second place finish in Grade 7. A total of 340 students attended in 82 teams from Grades 3 to 8 demonstrated “strong mathematical skills and attitude,” said organizers.
