Council prepares to talk numbers

Debate on the new budget comes down to the crunch as City council looks to give three readings to the document tonight (5 p.m.).

Let the debate begin.

City council will near the end of the process of crafting its new budget for the coming year when it debates the finer points and the deeper cuts this afternoon at 5 p.m. in City council chambers at City Hall.

Council will give the first three readings, and continue the debate, on the budget in a special meeting that will feature a committee of the whole portion for review and discussion of the budget.

The budget itself will not be adopted and put into law, reserving that final stamp for a later date this month.
