Just days after the Trail Regional Airport celebrated a 10-year milestone membership with the Trail and District Chamber of Commerce, city council has officially re-established an airport advisory committee.
Council says this significant step aims to elevate airport services, maintaining and growing it as a vital transportation hub in the West Kootenay.
Coun. Thea Hanson has been appointed to chair the committee, and Coun. Paul Butler as alternate chair, for a term ending Sept. 30, 2026.
The councillors enthusiastically voice their commitment to using their expertise and dedication to lift the airport’s visibility to new heights.
“The Trail Regional Airport is a great economic driver for the region,” says Coun. Hanson. “We brought this committee back to embrace and expand on airport partnerships in the community, explore economic growth opportunities and establish the airport as a major commercial transportation hub in the Kootenay Region.”
The committee will serve council by providing insights, making recommendations, and fostering new community partnerships.
The mission is to enhance the airport’s economic benefit to the region, as well as improve air services, facilities and advancements at the Trail Regional Airport.
“The future is bright at Trail Regional Airport,” Coun. Butler adds.
“We have been fortunate to work with the talented team at Pacific Coastal Airlines. From the ticket agents, to pilots, and of course their corporate leadership; the relationships have always been strong.”
