Sharon Wieder of Bear Aware tests out the new bear-resistant garbage and recycle bins that now line Columbia Avenue.
The bins have been rented for a three-month trial period thanks to donations from: NDCU ($700), Gillian and Kim Deane ($300), Tails Pet Supplies ($200), Bob and Jeannie Duffield ($200), Black Jack Ski Club ($200), Sharon and Charlie Wieder ($100), and Ronnie Mah ($50). The Rossland Historical Museum and Archives donated the historical pictures for the bins rented from Big Belly Solar and delivered by Bruce Johnson of The Cultured Cow.
“We are still short $500 for the project and would appreciate donations,” Wieder said.
