RCMP say two people died in a March 10 vehicle accident near Vallican.

A single-vehicle crash near Vallican has taken the lives of two West Kootenay residents.

On March 10 at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Slocan Lake RCMP received a report of a vehicle that had gone over an embankment on Little Slocan Road, according to a March 12 statement from RCMP Cpl. James Grandy.

Police discovered that a pickup truck containing two occupants had left the roadway, gone down an embankment and come to rest on its roof.

Both occupants suffered fatal injuries.

“This is a tragic crash that claimed the lives of two people far too soon,” said Grandy. “Our hearts go out to the families and friends during this difficult time.”

Grandy says the investigation is ongoing and the cause of the crash is not yet known.
