Special attraction coming to Rossland Fall Fair

Fun for whole family, and you can test-drive an electric vehicle

On Saturday, Sept. 8 the Rossland Fall Fair will fill the Rossland Arena with live music and entertainment.

The Fall Fair encourages participants to enter garden produce and home-made craft and hobby items in their appropriate categories. Entries must be brought to the arena on Friday, Sept. 7 between noon and 7 p.m. All entries are judged early Saturday morning, and ribbons and prize money are awarded to first, second and third place winners. Doors open to the public at 11 a.m. when all exhibits are displayed. Fall Fair brochures and entry forms can be found in many businesses and stores in town and at rosslandfallfair.ca

A special attraction, Accelerate Kootenays will be at the fair on the Saturday. Their booth will have friendly staff, information, an interactive element, and the opportunity for everyone to test-drive their electric vehicles.

Accelerate Kootenays is Canada’s first community-driven, collaborative strategy to build a clean transportation network. This summer they are taking their #RuralEV Mobile Showcase to bring the experience of driving electric vehicles to people across the Kootenays.

This Community Energy Association is very excited to connect with communities this summer to talk about the Accelerate Kootenays project.

The Accelerate Kootenays initiative has been successful in the coordination of communities, local governments, and sponsors to create Canada’s first community-driven electric vehicle charging station network. Due to this initiative, many communities throughout the Kootenays (including Rossland) are now the hosts of direct current fast charging and/or Level 2 charging stations. Well-connected, reliable EV travel is now possible to, from, and within the Kootenays.

This summer the goal is to visit each of these communities and get everyone excited about electric vehicles. We want to demystify the EV, and break down the barriers surrounding its use and abilities so that everyone can understand that they are entirely compatible with the Kootenay lifestyle.
