Nakusp Integrated Health will receive financial support from the West Kootenay Boundary Community Investment Co-op to expand health-care services.

A multidisciplinary clinic serving Nakusp and the surrounding region will get a leg up this spring to expand its reach thanks to investment from a regional co-op.

The West Kootenay Boundary Community (WKB) Investment Co-op announced Wednesday, March 26, it will finance Nakusp Integrated Health Inc., a community health centre integrated in 2022 after emerging from a therapeutic massage practice launched in 2017 by current owner Carley Cooke.

Today, the centre has five treatment rooms for a variety of therapies. It offers massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, naturopathy, counselling, foot care and more through a holistic approach to wellness, while supporting skilled professionals from both Nakusp and the wider region.

"We are thrilled to partner with Nakusp Integrated Health Inc. in their mission to provide comprehensive health-care solutions to residents in and around Nakusp," co-op president Jeff Hayward said in a release.

With the co-op's investment, Nakusp Integrated Health looks to expand its services, improve facilities and better serve locals.

"This investment will empower us to make dramatic improvements to our space to better meet the growing needs of the community," Cooke said in the release. "With the support of the WKB Investment Co-op, we can continue to provide high-quality care while attracting skilled health-care professionals to practise right here in Nakusp."
