Trail RCMP issued two Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) charges on the same night.

On Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:45 p.m. an RCMP officer in a marked police vehicle saw a vehicle fail to stop at the red light at the intersection of Farwell Street and Cedar Avenue in Trail.

The officer pulled over a 47-year-old Trail woman and her vehicle. According to the police report, the officer believed the woman's ability to drive was impaired by alcohol. The woman provided a roadside breath sample that resulted in a fail.

The 47-year-old Trail woman was issued a 90-day IRP and her vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.

According to Trail RCMP, approximately 45 minutes later, an officer was driving in his marked police vehicle when a he observed a vehicle driving toward him that was partially in his lane while on Rossland Avenue in Trail.

The officer pulled over to the side of the road to avoid a collision, then turned his police vehicle around and detained a 40-year-old Kelowna man and his vehicle.

The officer made observations that led him to believe the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by marijuana. A demand was read to the man who allegedly failed a Standard Field Sobriety Test delivered by the officer while roadside.

The 40-year-old Kelowna man was issued a 24-day IRP under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle was impounded.
