A Trail man will have to pay $1,127 for five vehicular violations after being pulled over in downtown Trail.
In the early hours of Sunday, Nov. 3, a Trail and Greater District RCMP officer patrolling Bay Avenue spotted a vehicle with known defects, prohibited from road use. The officer conducted a roadside stop and spoke to the driver, a 54-year-old Trail resident, who admitted he was aware of the defects but had not addressed them.
Following the interaction, the officer issued a Notice and Order, immediately removing the vehicle from the road. Police reported that the driver became irate, verbally berating the officer during the incident.
The driver received multiple fines, including: $598 for Failing to Comply with an Order, $109 for Tinted Windows, $230 for Improper Display of Plate, $81 for Unauthorized Lamps, and $109 for Failing to Change Address.
Vehicle impounded
The night of Sunday, Nov. 3, a Trail and Greater District RCMP officer on patrol in downtown Trail, noticed a vehicle on Pine Avenue with a broken taillight cover and an unsecured load.
The driver of the vehicle eventually parked outside a business on the 700 block of Victoria Street, where he and a passenger briefly went inside before returning.
After checking the police database, the officer discovered that the 58-year-old driver from Salmo was unlicensed.
According to police, upon noticing the officer’s presence, the driver and passenger appeared visibly nervous and stayed in the vehicle for nearly an hour until a third person arrived to drive it away.
Once they left the parking lot, the officer conducted a roadside stop and detained all three individuals.
The 58-year old was issued a driving prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded for up to seven days.
Car towed
The afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 3, a frontline RCMP officer in Trail and Greater District received a report about a 33-year-old woman whose vehicle was perched on a cement barricade near the intersection of Glover Road and McAnally Street.
The officer arrived at the West Trail scene and found the woman, who appeared uninjured.
She explained that she had been eating fries and became distracted by her ringing phone when she collided with the barricade.
Suspecting impairment, the officer administered a roadside breath test. Police report the breath test resulted in a fail.
Consequently, she received a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.
Car impounded
The night of Saturday, Nov. 2, a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer, while patrolling downtown Trail, spotted a vehicle driving erratically along Bay Avenue.
After checking the licence plate, the officer found that the vehicle was allegedly uninsured and pulled it over.
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Trail, was identified at the scene.
A police database check further revealed that he was also unlicensed in B.C.
As a result, he was issued a driving prohibition and fined $81 for failing to produce insurance and his vehicle was impounded for up to seven days.
