The Boxing Day Classic has donated $650 to support the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation’s Orthopedic Enhancement Project.

This annual hockey tournament in Rossland gives back to the community by distributing proceeds to various local organizations and programs.

The funds will help advance the Orthopedic Enhancement Project, which aims to improve care and equipment for patients requiring orthopedic procedures at KBRH.

"Thank you to everyone involved for making a difference in our community," the KBRH Health Foundation shares.

About the Orthopedic Enhancement Project

This $750,000 campaign will purchase state of the art medical equipment for the KBRH operating rooms, to be used by the hospital's six orthopedic surgeons.

New equipment will allow the surgical team to continue providing hip and knee replacement; hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, hand and wrist repair; and trauma surgeries.

Additionally, the project supports a new level of service for patients including total ankle replacements and hip and knee replacements with a one-day discharge.
