Shortly before 6:30 a.m. Friday (June 7), the Trail RCMP received a report that a trailer hitch was stolen off a truck in the 8000 block of Waneta Road, in Trail.
The owner of the trailer hitch contacted police to report the theft. He observed that the suspects who took the trailer hitch were driving a grey Toyota Tacoma.
The owner patrolled the area in his own vehicle and located the grey Toyota Tacoma abandoned in the 2700 block of Old Waneta Road.
Police attended and discovered that not only was the truck stolen, a motorcycle located in the truck bed was also stolen.
The trailer hitch was recovered at the scene.
The matter remains under investigation.
“Trail RCMP believes that these suspects are still in the area,” says Wicentowich. “Please contact the Trail detachment if you observe any suspicious activity associated to potential auto or trailer theft.”
Stolen truck
Minutes before 8:30 a.m. Friday (June 7), Trail police received a report that a 2007 black F350 Ford diesel truck was stolen from the parking lot of a business in the 2700 block of Highway Drive, in Trail.
Surveillance footage captured the image of two suspects entering the lot.
Suspect #1 is described as a man dressed in black clothing, and suspect #2 is described as a man dressed in a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
Anyone with information on the truck’s whereabouts or the identity of the suspects, is asked to call the Trail RCMP.
“This truck may be travelling back and forth between Trail and Grand Forks,” advises Wicentowich. “Please contact the Trail detachment if you spot it.”
More theft
Friday (June 7) at 9:55 a.m., a frontline officer received a report that someone had damaged the lock of a gate to a business located in the 8000 block of Waneta Road, in Trail.
Police suspect the culprits were attempting to gain entry to the property to steal a camper trailer.
The recovered stolen Toyota Tacoma was also associated to this attempted theft.
“Trail and Greater District RCMP believe that we have two to three men in the area that are actively stealing trucks and camper trailers,” says Wicentowich. “Please make sure your vehicles and keys are secure, and do your best to secure your camper trailers.”
