Have you ever wanted to take a trip into the past and try something old-timey like panning for gold?

Then, you’re in luck because on BC Day, Aug. 5, the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre is hosting a day of family fun that includes gold panning.

“Spend BC Day at the Rossland museum, with lots of fun for the whole family,” begins Fiona Lane, the centre’s operations and marketing manager.

“Take advantage of our assortment of lawn games, including SpikeBall, badminton … Try your hand at gold panning or enjoy our spectacular bubble wands.”

Lane encourages the public to drop in and explore the museum’s outdoor exhibits, such as climbing up a caboose or sitting in a fire truck.

“Tired of the heat?” she says. “Cool down inside with crafts, activities, a scavenger hunt, and family-friendly short films in our theatre.”

The event goes Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is by donation.

”Our popular outdoor tours and gold panning demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day,” Lane adds.

“Come on out to the Rossland museum for a BC Day filled with fun activities.”

The museum is open daily through summer, and offers guided tours three times each day.
