Music in the Park launches Thursday with local talent on stage

Tonight’s all-local showcase sets the tone for the weeks ahead …

Nothing says summer in Trail like live music echoing through Gyro Park.

Tonight, the Trail and District Arts Council launches the 2025 season of Kootenay Savings Music in the Park with a powerhouse opening night celebrating homegrown talent.

The series kicks off with three community favourites: the Trail Maple Leaf Band will bring their signature concert band sound; the Trail Pipe Band will fill the park with the powerful drone of traditional pipes; and the B. McJones Highland Dancers will deliver fast-footed precision that pairs perfectly with the music.

It’s a high-energy, all-local showcase that sets the tone for the weeks ahead.

From June 26 through Aug. 14, the park will come alive every Thursday from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. with live music spanning alt-rock, country, world, pop, and more.

“It is a pleasure and a challenge to program a lineup of fabulous local acts and touring groups every year,” says artistic director Nadine Tremblay.

“We are aiming to create a fun and affordable family night out for locals and visitors with music that will appeal to everyone.”

This year’s series will also bring back the fan-favourite Night Markets on July 17 and Aug. 14, will introduce two new special events (July 24 and Aug. 8), and will keep the spotlight on both local performers and touring artists, all set against the scenic Columbia River backdrop.

If rain is in the forecast, check the Bailey Theatre’s Facebook page by 2 p.m. for updates on potential venue changes.

Regular Thursday shows are by donation (suggested minimum $3), or a $30 season pass offers full access all summer.

Passes are available online or at the park.
