Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 29, frontline RCMP officers responded to a disturbance call involving a 40-year-old man in the 400 block of Buckna Street, West Trail.

The man, reportedly armed with a knife and intoxicated, had an outstanding unendorsed warrant for his arrest.

According to police, the first officer on the scene observed the man attempting to start a motorcycle, seemingly preparing to flee.

When the officer intervened, the man allegedly assaulted her and attempted to escape on foot.

Two additional officers arrived promptly, assisting in subduing and arresting the suspect a short time later.

The man was taken into custody and later appeared before a judge, where he was detained pending further legal proceedings.

Trail RCMP said it plans to submit a report to Crown counsel, requesting approval of criminal charges in connection with the incident.
