A grassroots volunteer group is calling on the community for one last wave of generosity to help local seniors feel the warmth of Christmastime.

Adopt A Senior Trail and Area, is seeking donations to provide thoughtful gifts for seniors who might otherwise be overlooked during the holidays.

“For four years now, we’ve been making sure local seniors feel remembered and valued,” says Jennifer Williams, the group’s organizer. “Many of these individuals either have no family nearby or none at all. Some live independently, but the majority are in care facilities.”

The group’s mission is fuelled entirely by community support.

“Without donations, this simply wouldn’t be possible,” Williams emphasizes.

How to help:

Monetary donations: Volunteers will purchase gifts on your behalf, and receipts are provided.

Item donations: Contribute specific items that will go directly into the gift packages.

Adopt a Senior: Visit the group’s Facebook page to choose a senior to sponsor. Donors are asked to spend up to $60, shopping from a list of suggested items.

While the gifts are delivered anonymously to maintain confidentiality, the impact is undeniable.

“I can assure you, the joy these gifts bring is incredible,” Williams shares. “We would love to have your support, and thank you kindly for considering a donation.”

Last year, the group delivered over 425 gifts to seniors in care facilities such as Poplar Ridge, Columbia View Lodge, Chateau Manor, Rose Wood Village, and throughout the community.

All donations must be submitted by Dec. 8 to allow enough time for organizing and distribution.
