A splash of fun: Kootenay Savings raises cash for patient care

Event raises $802 for Orthopedic Enhancement Project; lead-up to golf fundraiser at Birchbank

Golf Classic Signature Sponsor, Kootenay Savings Credit Union, hosted a barbeque and water tower fundraiser on Thursday, July 18, as a lead-up to the health foundation’s annual golf tournament at Birchbank.

This fun-filled afternoon - held on Cedar Avenue in downtown Trail — allowed anyone to dunk board members and staff from the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation or Kootenay Savings, and grab a burger, all by donation.

The splashy event raised $802 for the Orthopedic Enhancement Project.

“Your continued support has been instrumental in advancing our Orthopedic Enhancement Project and improving healthcare in the Kootenay Boundary,” the KBRH Health Foundation shares.

Orthopedic Enhancement Project

This $750,000 campaign will purchase state of the art medical equipment for the KBRH operating rooms, to be used by the hospital's six orthopedic surgeons.

New equipment will allow the surgical team to continue providing hip and knee replacement; hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, hand and wrist repair; and trauma surgeries.

Additionally, the project supports a new level of service for patients including total ankle replacements and hip and knee replacements with a one-day discharge.
