The Rossland Public Library invites kids of all ages to join the 2017 BC Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Walk on the Wild Side.

Registration is free and starts at the library on June 1 but kids can sign up anytime throughout the summer. Kids receive a reading record to help keep track of their summer reading fun, and their reading could earn them a medal.

The BC Summer Reading Club motivates kids to read (or be read to) regularly, which helps to maintain or improve their reading skills while school is out. It makes reading fun by inviting kids to read what they want and when they want. The staff at Rossland Public Library can help kids find just what they like, whether it’s a print book, audio book, e-book or magazine.

The BC Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with financial support from Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education and the RBC Foundation.

Why should kids have all the fun?

Summer Reading Club is a staple in public libraries each summer. But why should kids have all the fun?

This summer, the Rossland Public Library is pleased to announce the Why Should Kids Have All the Fun Summer Reading Club for Adults. Adults will receive a reading log with categories such as “romance,” “award winner” or “published the year you were born.” The goal of the club is to get you reading something you may not otherwise have picked up.

If you read something from each of the 12 categories, between June 1 and Sept. 1, you can enter your name in a prize draw.

Don’t let the kids have all the fun — take part in the Why Should Kids Have All the Fun Summer Reading Club for Adults.
