Lowry Olafson, a singer-songwriter with nine CDs and a tour of the globe under his belt, will be back in Rossland and performing at Terry and Janet Marshall’s house on May 10 at 7 p.m.
Olafson has a penchant for the “intimacy and warmth” of house concerts, he writes on his website, which take a “common social gathering to a whole new level” where people “feel they are part of something special.”
One reviewer in Perth, Australia, wrote that “Lowry Olafson combines skillful guitar and vocals with the ability to communicate directly to the audience.”
“Today, most of us are accustomed to concerts where the performer is inaccessible,” Olafson writes, but the house concert, inspired by the days of chamber music, gets the “audience close enough to see the details of the artist’s performance — the nuances of a facial expression — or hear the artist’s fingers attack the strings before they hear the sound of notes.”
