The BC Home Energy Coach program is now available to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their homes, reduce their home energy costs, improve home comfort, and reduce the environmental footprint of their home.
The BC Home Energy Coach program provides easy to navigate self-serve website tools, including a home energy incentives and rebates search tool, resources to learn about energy efficiency products and services, and a regularly updated frequently asked questions series. Knowledgeable program staff are available by phone or email to answer consumer questions at all stages of their home energy improvement project.
“For homeowners that have questions about rebate programs, home energy upgrades, EnerGuide home evaluations, or where to get started, the BC Home Energy Coach program is the perfect place to start finding answers,” says Tiffany Robinson, BC Home Energy Coach Program Coordinator.
Funding for the program comes from the Innovative Clean Energy Fund (ICE), designed to support the Province’s energy, economic, environmental and greenhouse gas reduction priorities and advance B.C.’s clean energy sector.
BC Hydro and FortisBC, although not funding or administering this initiative, are supportive of the purpose of the coaching program and are providing promotion through marketing and outreach channels. The program focuses on support services for existing single-family residential homes, townhomes and row homes, and consists of a website, a hotline, and energy coaching services.
“The energy coaching hotline and EnerGuide Home Evaluation rebates are part of our government’s commitment to making life more affordable for British Columbians. These programs help homeowners get expert advice on improving the energy efficiency of their homes, help them reduce their energy bills year after year and make their homes more comfortable and durable,” explains Michelle Mungall, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.
While the primary beneficiaries of this program are expected to be homeowners looking for information about home energy improvement opportunities and the rebates available, the program resources are increasingly being used by energy advisors, real estate agents and contractors that provide home energy renovation services.
The online search tools at http://www.bcenergycoach.ca/ allow all industry and government stakeholders to easily identify and track energy efficiency incentives and rebates available from B.C. utility companies, municipal and regional governments, and the Province.
