Rossland Girl Guides set up shop on the corner of Harry Lafevre Square as the Guides kicked off their annual cookie sales campaign on Sunday.

Cookie sales enable Girl Guides of Canada to enjoy adventures and fantastic friendships. The funds help keep fees reasonable, maintains facilities, and rent for meeting spaces, launches new programming, and help community initiatives.

The cookies are also getting healthier. Girl Guides of Canada is proud to say that their classic chocolate and vanilla Girl Guide cookies have zero-grams of trans-fat per serving, while the chocolaty mint cookies have 90 per cent less trans-fat per serving than previous recipes.

There is now only 0.1 gram of trans-fat per serving (two cookies). Girl Guides of Canada have worked closely with their baker Dare Foods Ltd. to reduce the trans-fat content of the cookies while maintaining the same great taste that Canadians love. As always, it is important to remember that cookies are a treat.

The time-honoured tradition started in 1927 and continues today, so thank you to Rossland Guides Ruby Stewart, Lacey and Bryn Williams, Ella Quinn, Jasmine and Violet O’Farrell and the rest of Rossland Guides for the delicious treats.
