The Columbia Canoe and Kayak Club have organized a paddle across the Lower Arrow Lake this Sunday, and the general public are encouraged to join.
"It will be an easy flat water paddle," Michael McMann said, "if the wind doen't blow!"
The whole trip is expected to take four or five hours.
The crew will leave the Deer Park boat launch and paddle up the lake to view the high rock cliffs on the way to Anderson Point. They'll cross the lake to Renata for some lunch and a walk in this area that was an important orcharding community before the Arrow Lakes was flooded, but now has a few summer homes.
The group will head southwest to pass the Natural Arch, the highest arch in western Canada, and there will be an option for people to climb up the hill to get a better view.
"The rest of the flotilla will continue down the lake to have a look at the new developments at Coykendahl," McMann said.
The two groups will reunite and paddle back to Deer Park.
Club members Dennis and Karen Holden have a cottage in Deer Park, and participants are invited to gather there after the paddle.
