Throughout the summer, swimmers from the Greater Trail Stingrays have competed in local swim meets from Grand Forks, to Kimberley to Colville.

The summer swim season it a busy one, with training most week days and swim meets most weekends. With a strong focus on developing skills while having fun, the kids love going to these meets, where they make new friends from around the region.

At the beginning of August the Regionals were held in Nelson, and were well attended by Stingrays, who sent almost 30 swimmers. They finished the weekend with over 70 personal best times, and brought home over 50 medals. This was also the qualifying event for the Provincials, held in Kamloops this year.

A group of eight swimmers from the Stingrays (seven of whom reside in Rossland) headed off to Kamloops on Aug. 17 for the BC Summer Swimming Provincials. With very strong competition from swimmers across B.C.’s mainland and the Island, the Stingrays put in some great performances.

Juliana Zhou (14) made finals in two of her four events, placing 5th in 100m Breaststroke and 7th in 100m Backstroke. She also placed 12th in 50m Fly and 17th in 50m Free.
