The City of Rossland has imposed STAGE 2 water restrictions effective immediately.

As of Wednesday, July 27 additional watering and outdoor water use restrictions came into effect due to the main reservoir at 0.5 m below capacity.

Restrictions include watering on alternate days based on residential street number falling on odd or even days.

There are no restrictions on watering vegetable gardens or fruit trees for personal use, however, most outdoor residential water use, such as watering lawns, is only permitted from 8 to 9 a.m. and 8 to 9 p.m.

Outdoor residential use includes only hand watering of trees, shrubs, decorative baskets/containers and flower beds is permitted. Sprinklers are allowed for lawns, and drip irrigation is permitted with no restrictions.

Washing of vehicles, boats, bicycles and motorized equipment can only be done by hand.

Residential hot tub and pool filling can be conducted only to comply with health and safety laws.

According to the bylaw, the fine for violating any provision will be $100 for each offence, up to a total of $2,500.

A resident can also apply for an exemption if deemed necessary via application to the Municipal Officer.

To view the complete table of restrictions, including Institutional and Commercial outdoor water restrictions, check out the Outdoor Water Use Regulation Bylaw No. 2696.
