ROBSON — The Robson Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the Firefighter games over the upcoming Labour Day weekend.
This will be the fourth time the department has hosted the games in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. The family-friendly event is free and will be held at the Pass Creek Regional Exhibition Fairgrounds. Twenty teams from fire departments all across British Columbia will be competing in this year’s event.
Firefighters will be competing in a series of events including the hose roll relay, pike pole javelin, sledge hammer slam, Randy window rescue, chin-up square off, hoisting challenge, axe throw, beer barrel attack and the finale Mayday Mayhem obstacle course.
There will be live music Saturday and Sunday evenings starting at 6:30. Food vendors and a kids zone will also be on site.
“This event is something we’re very proud of and work on for the entire year leading into the event,” said Dustin LePage, MD Canada Chair, Captain with RVFD and lead organizer. “It would not be possible without the generous support of the business community and our tireless volunteers so we thank them greatly.”
Robson Fire Department chief Jeff Grant is also looking forward to the games.
“Going into our fourth year I couldn’t be more excited,” he said. “Thanks to all the fire departments in the area. This event is really starting to develop and the payback to muscular dystrophy is huge. The Robson Fire Department is extremely proud to bring this event to the community and we are looking forward to our best year yet.”
