Some Rossland residents have noticed that mail directed to them via their street address sometimes reaches their post box and sometimes doesn’t.

According to Canada Post, the onus is on residents to provide their P.O. Box in order to guarantee delivery.

Canada Post said that customers are welcome to include their street address “as additional information,” but “the post office box address is required for us to process and deliver mail.”

Asked whether or not Canada Post employees are able or could be able to look up a street address and match it to a P.O. Box address, Canada Post replied:

“If an item doesn’t contain the post office box address and the local employees aren’t aware of the matching civic address, the item will unfortunately be returned to sender. To ensure we provide timely and reliable service, it’s important that customers use their correct mailing address at all times.”
