Rossland concert raises funds for Red Cross

A local trio played chamber music by “Guys named Franz” — Liszt, Haydn and Schubert — to raise fund for Red Cross last Wednesday.

The concert took place at the home of Mayor Kathy Moore and David Cornelius and La Cafamore played to a sellout crowd of 40 people.

Appies were donated along with an assortment of wine and Mountain Nugget Chocolateprovided a giveaway prize for the evening — a gift of chocolate won by Reino Rasku, whose Feb. 2 birthday was the closest to Franz Liszt’s Jan. 31 birthday.

The event raised $1,900, including donations from folks who couldn’t attend, for the Red Cross BC Fire Appeal fund.

Three representatives from the local chapter of the Emergency Disaster Response team, including the local team leader, Helen James, were present to provide information and accept donations.
