Locals and tourists will have the opportunity to experience something new this summer — stand-up paddle boarding at Nancy Greene Lake.

Under a trial agreement with BC Parks, Liquid Lifestyle will be offering paddle board rentals and lessons from its mobile set up at the lake.

Liquid Life Style owners Thomas and Tasha Leuvekamp have operated their business for four years in the Vancouver area, but wanted to experience more of the liquid life style and less of the crazy fast-paced city life style. So they packed up their belongings and moved their business to Rossland.

“We wanted to move to a beautiful, slower paced mountain town with the price and the affordability and the life style,” said Thomas. “We basically wanted to get back to doing all of the things we stopped doing because we were too busy surviving in the big city.”

The Leuvekamp’s have been overwhelmed with the positive response and welcome they have received so far.

“It has been such a great response in the one week we have been here,” said Tasha. “We are super stoked.”

“We love doing it — it is so awesome,” said Tasha. “So many people think you have to wear a bikini, you have to be a certain size, you have to do yoga, you have to be able to balance — but we will be able to get you up, I promise.”

Continuation of the program at Nancy Green will depend on the feed back BC Parks receives.

“We feel very blessed to have the opportunity to try it out,” said Tasha. “We are hoping that the public finds it a great addition.”

Board rentals cost $25 per hour for locals, and $30 for tourists. Group lessons are $35 for an hour or private lessons for $50 an hour. All equipment, including personal flotation devices is included.

They also offer SUP with your pup where the goal is to teach people and their dogs to paddle together.

Liquid Life Style will also put together group lessons for birthday parties or other events.

If you are interested in giving it a try, the Leuvekamps recommend calling 250-921-9200 at least a day ahead to schedule a time.
